Non availability of Voters list has exposed the preparedness of the government : Dr Cheema

The Shiromani Akali Dal took up the matter of non availability of Voter lists in the different Municipalities of Punjab with the State Election Commissioner Mr Jagpal Singh Sandhu and urged him to take strict action against the erring officials.

In a statement released to the press from Shiromani Akali Dal head office in Chandigarh the Party’s Senior Vice President & Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that it is ridiculous that process for filing of nominations has begun but still in many municipal committees voter list are not available.

He brought the matter of non availability of voter list in Baghapurna, Dharamkot & Fatehgarh Panjtoor MC’s of district Moga to the notice of the State Election Commissioner. Similarly no voter lists are available in Patiala and Amritsar Municipal Corporations also.

“ How can one file his nomination papers without a voter list ?” questioned Cheema.

This has exposed the preparedness of the Local Govt. department and people of the State want an explanation from the Local Government Minister Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu on this issue.
