The case was registered under Sections 308(4), 351(1), and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following a complaint by a resident of village Udekaran.
PTC News Desk: The parents of gangster Goldy Brar were taken into custody on Monday in connection with a case registered at Sadar Police Station in Sri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab.
Officials said that Shamsher Singh, son of Gurbaksh Singh, and his wife Preetpal Kaur, residents of Adesh Nagar, Street No. 1, Sector No. 1, Kotkapura Road, Sri Muktsar Sahib, were arrested in relation to an FIR filed on December 3, 2024. The case was registered under Sections 308(4), 351(1), and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following a complaint by a resident of village Udekaran.
The complainant, who has served in the Education Department for 33 years, alleged that on November 27, 2024, between 10:30 am and 11:00 am, he received a WhatsApp call from an international number while on duty at a school. The caller reportedly claimed to be linked to the Bambiha Group, verified his identity, and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh.
Shamsher Singh, who previously served as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in the police force, was compulsorily retired in 2021 after his alleged link to a murder case in Muktsar district came to light.
Goldy, a proclaimed offender and wanted fugitive, is a key accused in the 2022 killing of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh, also known as Sidhu Moosewala, in Mansa district.
According to a public notice released by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2024, Goldy is believed to be hiding in either Canada or the United States. Reports suggest he traveled to Canada in 2017 on a student visa.
