Patiala railway track blast: Four arrested in ISI-backed module charged under stringent UAPA

The accused were working on the directions of their handlers based in Malaysia who are linked to Pakistan Intelligence Agency ISI.

PTC News Desk: In a significant breakthrough, Patiala police on Tuesday arrested four accused in connection with Delhi-Rajpura railway track blast in which one accused, identified as Jagroop Singh alias Joopa was killed while attempting to detonate the bomb. 

DIG Patiala range Kuldeep Singh Chahal confirmed the arrests in a press conference. 

The arrested accused have been identified as Pardeep Singh khalsa , Kuldeep singh , Gurpreet singh, Satnam singh who were working on the directions of their handlers based in Malaysia who are linked to Pakistan Intelligence Agency ISI. 

The police also recovered pistols,  material used for making IED and  live cartridges.

During the interrogation, it has come to the fore that the accused were in direct contact with Pakistan’s intelligence agency (ISI) and Khalistani extremist groups based abroad, particularly in Malaysia. Their main objective was to carry out terror activities in Punjab to disrupt peace and create fear among the public. They had carried out the blast on the Shambhu–Ambala railway line on April 27, 2026, with the intention of disrupting railway operations.

A case has been registered under Section 3 of the Explosive Act, Section 150 of the Railway Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Two motorcycles have been recovered from near the incident site, bearing registration numbers from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Police are currently investigating these vehicles.


Earlier a group identified as the Khalistan National Army had sent an email threatening to blow up railway tracks in Punjab and Haryana.


The email specifically mentioned plans to carry out blasts along the railway line from Ambala to Delhi. It also included threats targeting railway tracks in cities like Ludhiana, Amritsar, Bathinda, and Ferozepur in Punjab. However, railway police and investigating agencies reportedly did not take the threat seriously, following which the attackers carried out the incident.


Meanwhile,  one accused reportedly died while attempting to detonate the bomb.  The deceased has been identified as Jagroop Singh alias Joopa,33, a resident of Panjwar village in Tarn Taran district, Punjab.
