PTC Web Desk:  Haryana-based YouTuber Armaan Malik is facing escalating legal challenges after the Patiala district court issued notices against him in two separate cases, summoning him to appear on September 2. The court has also directed his two wives to be present during the hearing.

The first case pertains to allegations of multiple marriages in violation of the Hindu Marriage Act, while the second involves accusations of hurting religious sentiments. Malik’s wife, Payal, who recently appeared on Bigg Boss OTT Season 3, had earlier apologised to Hindu saints in Mohali, Patiala, and Haridwar, and performed rituals in a bid to atone for the controversy.

The petitioner has claimed that Armaan Malik has not only married twice but allegedly four times, contravening the Hindu Marriage Act, which permits only one marriage at a time for a Hindu individual. The plea also accuses Malik of dressing up as Hindu deities, an act the petitioner says is disrespectful to religious beliefs and punishable under Haryana law.

The controversy began when Payal dressed as Goddess Kali. A complaint in this regard was filed with the Mohali police. On July 22, Armaan and Payal visited the Kali Mata temple in Patiala to seek forgiveness.

On July 23, they appeared at the Kali Mata temple in Kharar, where Payal undertook a week-long temple cleaning and prayer ritual. Later, they visited Haridwar to meet Niranjani Akhara Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri, apologised again, and performed religious rites.

The advocate, who filed the petition on July 26, said he has submitted written complaints to Punjab’s DGP and the SSP of Patiala, along with photographic and video evidence.

He stated that while Hinduism values forgiveness, legal proceedings are still necessary in matters involving religious sentiments.

The lawyer alleged that Malik has publicly showcased his two wives on social media in violation of the Hindu Marriage Act and has evidence suggesting a third marriage. He argued that such conduct is a blot on society and warrants strict legal action.

In addition to the Patiala proceedings, a complaint against Malik has also been lodged at a police station in Sangrur.
