Two sisters from Punjab's Hoshiarpur win elections in Germany, bring pride to community

PTC Web Desk: In a remarkable achievement for the Indian diaspora, two sisters from Punjab have secured victories in local elections in Germany, bringing recognition and pride to their community back home.

Harpreet Kaur and Komalpreet Kaur, who trace their roots to Rara village in Tanda, Hoshiarpur district, have been elected to the Foreign Council and the City Parliament in Kelkheim, Germany. Notably, both sisters have won these elections for the second consecutive time.


Their success has sparked celebrations among family members and relatives in Punjab, who described the achievement as a proud moment not only for their village but for the entire state.

Speaking about their journey, the sisters said they are actively involved in supporting international students, particularly those arriving in Germany for higher education. They assist students in navigating academic challenges and settling into a new environment, offering guidance whenever needed.

The elections were held in March.
