SC panel seeks arrest of Raja Warring within 5 days for alleged derogatory remarks against late Buta Singh
The NCSC has directed authorities to take legal action for arrest of Raja Warring in Tarn Taran remarks case and submit an action report within five days
PTC Web Desk: The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has directed the authorities to take necessary legal action for the arrest of Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring in connection with a complaint over alleged derogatory remarks against former Union Home Minister and late Congress leader Buta Singh during the Tarn Taran byelection campaign.
The Commission, while hearing the matter on Monday, asked the authorities concerned to take steps for the arrest of the accused in accordance with the law and submit a status report on the action taken within five days.

During the proceedings, the NCSC expressed concern over what it described as a delay in the police investigation and the arrest of the accused. The commission also questioned the delay in submitting an Action Taken Report (ATR).
The commission had, during an earlier hearing on May 5, recommended that the investigation be completed within the prescribed time frame in accordance with the applicable rules.
Taking note of the developments, the commission has now asked the authorities to expedite the investigation and complete the legal process at the earliest. It also directed that the chargesheet be filed before the competent court without unnecessary delay.
The commission also took note of Sarabjot Singh's complaint that he had allegedly been receiving threats from people associated with the case.
In view of the complaint, the NCSC directed the authorities to provide him with appropriate police protection in both Punjab and Delhi. The commission has further sought an Action Taken Report on its recommendations within 30 days.
NCSC Chairman Kishor Makwana also called for accountability in relation to the delay in the investigation and arrests. The commission said that if any negligence or dereliction of duty is found on the part of the investigating officer, departmental action may be initiated in accordance with the law.
