Jasvir Singh Garhi steps down as Punjab SC Commission chairman day after Chamkaur Sahib in-charge appointment
PTC News Desk: Jasvir Singh Garhi, who was recently appointed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as the in-charge of the Chamkaur Sahib constituency, has resigned from his post as Chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission.
Garhi himself revealed this on Friday (August 28) in Chandigarh. He said he had submitted his resignation on the evening of August 26, a day before the party announced his appointment as the Chamkaur Sahib constituency in-charge on August 27.
He said there had been considerable discussion across Punjab about the development. As he was outside the state, he was unable to answer anyone's calls on Thursday.
Garhi also thanked AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal for giving him the responsibility of strengthening the party's organisation in Chamkaur Sahib, the constituency previously represented by former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, ahead of the upcoming elections.
