SAD launches 48-hour dharna against Cong for 'insulting' Sikh Gurus

The Shiromani Akali Dal today  launched “a massive struggle” to force the Congress party and its government in  Punjab to “apologise to the Khalsa Panth for  deliberate and persistent insults cast against the great Guru Sahibaan in the history books meant for 10+2 students in Punjab School Education Board.” This protest will be observed for two whole days. For the first 24 hours, Sukhbir Singh led the massive struggle. For the next 24 hours, the President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal will lead the dharna.

Earlier in the day, the party leaders performed an Ardas at Shri Akal Takhat Sahib before launching the struggle for speedy justice to November 1984 riots victim families besides punishment to those who indulged in beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib as well as those who distorted Sikh history.

And also to bring the CM Amarinder Singh and the Congress government in Punjab down on its knees for its brazen assault on the sacred image of the great Sikh Guru Sahiban, especially Guru Arjan Dev ji, Gur Hargoibind ji, Gur Tegh Bahadur Sahib and the tenth Guru Guru Gobind Singh ji.

The details of the struggle were announced in Amritsar after the Ardas.

Mr Badal said that if the Congress government did not accept the demand to undo the damage immediately, “it should prepare to face the wrath of the Khalsa Panth. The SAD struggle will continue till the Congress  is brought to its knees before the might of the Panth,” he said.

The Core Committee of the party held an emergency meeting at the party headquarters here this afternoon  to consider the issue of “sacrilegious distortions in the history of the Great Guru Sahiban and deliberate  insults cast on their heroic acts.”

The Core Committee also passed resolution to condole the demise of the former Delhi CM ShriMadal lal Khurana and late Brigadier (Retd.)  Balbir Singh Grewal, ex-MLA Gurdev Singh Sidhu and Jathedar Labh Singh.
