Modi distributes 70,000 appointment letters, emphasises national Rozgar Mela as government's new identity

National Rozgar Mela: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the National Rozgar Mela through video conferencing on Tuesday, where he distributed approximately 70,000 appointment letters to newly appointed individuals across various government departments and organisations.

During his speech, the Prime Minister emphasised India's growing stature and political stability in the global arena. He highlighted the government's progressive economic and social decisions, stating that they have garnered recognition for India as a decisive and forward-thinking administration.

The National Rozgar Mela has become a defining characteristic of the current government, and PM Modi expressed satisfaction that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-ruled states are regularly organising similar employment fairs.

He underscored the significance of the ongoing "Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal" (the period of celebrating 75 years of Indian independence) and urged the new government appointees to contribute toward making India a developed nation in the next 25 years.


PM Modi extended his congratulations to the new appointees and their families, highlighting the emerging opportunities for employment and self-employment within the Indian economy. He referenced successful initiatives like the Mudra Scheme and Startup India, emphasising that young individuals are now also becoming job creators. The Prime Minister lauded the government's unprecedented campaign to provide employment to the youth, noting that recruitment processes conducted by institutions like the SSC, UPSC, and RRB have become simpler, more transparent, and significantly faster.

While acknowledging challenges such as the economic recession, the global pandemic, and disruptions in the supply chain caused by ongoing conflicts, PM Modi emphasised that India is propelling its economy to new heights. He credited multinational investments and the growth of new industries for expanding employment opportunities.


The Prime Minister exemplified the automobile sector, which currently contributes over 6.5 per cent to India's GDP, citing its increasing exports of passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and two-wheelers to various countries. He highlighted the expansion of electric mobility and the positive impact of the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) scheme on the automotive industry.

Comparing the present state of India to a decade ago, PM Modi highlighted the country's enhanced stability, safety, and strength. In a veiled reference to the previous Congress-led government, he criticised the earlier "scams and misuse of public funds" that plagued governance.

He emphasised that India's political stability and the government's progressive decisions are highly regarded worldwide, with global agencies recognizing the country's achievements in improving ease of living, infrastructure development, and ease of doing business.


Discussing India's substantial investments in physical and social infrastructure, PM Modi focused on the government's efforts to provide safe drinking water through the Jal Jeevan Mission. He revealed that approximately Rs 4 lakh crore (4 trillion Indian rupees) are being allocated to this mission. The Prime Minister highlighted the significant progress made in providing piped water to rural areas, with 62 out of every 100 households now having access to piped water compared to only 15 out of 100 previously.


He emphasized the positive impact of clean water in preventing waterborne diseases, stating that it has saved approximately 4 lakh (400,000) lives and led to financial savings of 8 lakh crore rupees for individuals in terms of water management and disease treatment.

PM Modi urged the new appointees to grasp the multiplier effect of government schemes and cautioned against the pitfalls of dynasty politics and nepotism in the recruitment process. He cited instances of cash-for-jobs and land-for-jobs scams, cautioning the youth about political parties that exploit them for personal gain. Emphasising the government's commitment to providing equal opportunities, he highlighted the importance of language in employment, mentioning the benefits of recruitment exams conducted in regional languages.

The Prime Minister highlighted the transformation of government systems and the rapid changes in the work of government employees in today's fast-paced India. He noted that the government has adopted a citizen-centric approach, bringing services to the doorsteps of the people through digital platforms and mobile apps. He urged the new appointees to work with sensitivity towards citizens and continue to foster a learning mindset.


PM Modi mentioned the online portal iGoT, which has recently surpassed 1 million users, and encouraged the new appointees to take advantage of the courses available on the platform. He urged them to join in realizing the vision of a developed India in the next 25 years of the "Amrit Kaal" journey.

During the Prime Minister's address, the program connected 43 locations across the country. According to an official release, the Rozgar Mela is a significant step toward fulfilling PM Modi's commitment to prioritize employment generation. It is expected to act as a catalyst in furthering employment opportunities and providing meaningful avenues for youth empowerment and participation in national development.

The new appointees also have the opportunity to enhance their skills through Karmayogi Prarambh, an online module available on the iGOT Karmayogi portal, which offers over 400 e-learning courses accessible from any device and location.
