Two brothers held for interstate drug smuggling

Rajpura, August 29: The CIA team of Rajpura police on Monday arrested two brothers for interstate drug smuggling. A case has been filed against two brothers under the NDPS Act in Rajpura police station on the charge of bringing opium from Himachal Pradesh to Punjab and selling it here through drug dealers.

The accused have been identified as Ajay Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar residents of Prem Colony near Rajpura Railway Station.Police sources said that both of them worked together. They used to bring vegetables from Himachal Pradesh to Rajpura and sell them.

Meanwhile  two brothers brought opium from Kullu in Himachal Pradesh under the guise of bringing vegetables and supply it in Punjab.

 

Yesterday, when the car with the number of Himachal Pradesh was stopped at a checkpoint, the accused started running away after seeing the police and after arresting the accused, 3 kg 117 grams of opium and drug money worth Rs. 8 lakh have also been recovered.

According to the police, after producing the accused in the court, they will be remanded and questioned further and the dealers who used to sell these drugs will also be traced.
