World Wrestling Championships: Sushil Kumar loses opening bout against Azerbaijan's Gadzhiyev

Ace Indian wrestler and two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar lost the opening bout of the men’s freestyle 74kg category in the World Wrestling Championships. Sushil lost to Azerbaijan's Khadzhimurad Gadzhiyev at Nur Sultan, Kazhakstan by 9-11. In the initial phase, Sushil looked like he was in total control and also gained a healthy 8-2 lead before Gadzhiyev fought back, narrowing the lead to 9-6. Later, Gadzhiyev managed to defeat Sushil and went on to get a bonus point to seal his victory with a score of 11-9.  Ind vs SA 2nd T20: India scripts history, wins first-ever T20 against SA on home turf Sushil’s fate in this championship now hinges on Gadzhiyev’s performance. If he reaches the finals, Sushil will get a chance to fight for the Olympic qualification as well as a bronze. -PTC News
