Following hate speech controversy, Ankhi Das resigns as Facebook India policy head
Ankhi Das Resignation From Facebook India: Ankhi Das, who has been a top executive working as the director of Facebook's public policy for India, South and Central Asia regions, has resigned weeks after hate speech controversy . She was accused of promoting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Bihar elections 2020.
Ajit Mohan, Vice President & Managing Director, Facebook India, said that "Ankhi Das has decided to step down from her role in Facebook to pursue her interest in public service."
Facebook has claimed that Ankhi Das' resignation from the company is not because of the ongoing hate speech controversy arising in the wake of Bihar Elections 2020.

She has resigned as she wants to pursue her interest in public service, it added.
In a statement, Ajit Mohan said that Das was one of their earliest employees in India and played a key role in the growth of the company.

Das was a part of my leadership team for the last 2 years where she played an enormous contributions. "We are grateful for her service and wish her the very best for the future,” Mohan said.
In a recent report by foreign publications, including The Wall Street Journal and TIME, there were accusations on Facebook that it did not censor the posts made by BJP and according to the company's hate speech policy.
Meanwhile, it was reported that a Facebook executive was reported to have purportedly said that taking punitive measures against BJP's posts "would damage [its] business prospects." Later, it was found that the executive was Das who is now leaving the company.
