Aviation turbine fuel price hiked to record levels

Ahead of the presentation of Union Budget 2022-23 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, sources on Tuesday informed that Air travel is likely to get more expensive as Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) or jet fuel prices have been hiked to record levels. As per the latest information, ATF price has been hiked by a steep 8.5 percent. Meanwhile, the petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged for the consecutive 88th day. According to a price notification, jet fuel price was raised by Rs 6,7843.25/kl or 8.5 % to Rs 86,038/kl in Delhi. With this ATF price touched an all-time high. Brent crude oil price reached USD 147/barrel, said sources. The hike will most probably put pressure on the already debilitated balance sheets of the airline as Tuesday's price hike is the third hike in a month.
