Bank Holidays in May 2021: Banks across the country will remain closed for up to 12 days in several cities in May 2021.
These holidays in banks include weekends and festivals. As per the RBI guidelines, the banks will remain closed on public holidays while several holidays vary from state to state and only the gazetted holidays were observed by the banks across the country.
The gazetted holidays include Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), Christmas Day (December 25) while festivals like Diwali, Christmas, Eid, Guru Nanak Jayanthi, Good Friday are also bank holidays.
Meanwhile, both the private and public sector banks would remain closed on the second, fourth Saturday, and all Sundays of each month.
As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the banks in several states will remain closed on May 14, 2021, on account of Eid-UI-Fitra.

7 May - Jumat-ul-Vida
13 May - Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr) (Shawal-1)
14 May - Bhagvan Shree Parshuram Jayanti/Ramjan-Eid (Eid-UI-Fitra)/Basava Jayanti/Akshaya Tritiya
26 May - Buddha Pournima

May 2 - Weekly off (Sunday)
May 8 - Second Saturday
May 9 - Weekly off (Sunday)
May 16 - Weekly off (Sunday)
May 22- Fourth Saturday
May 23 - Weekly off (Sunday)
May 30 - Weekly off (Sunday)
Hence, the customers planning a visit to their banks in the month of May should note the dates and plan accordingly with the bank holidays in May 2021. Though the bank branches will remain closed these days, internet banking will continue to operate.
