Ludhiana jewellery shop robbery caught on CCTV: armed miscreants attack owner, flee with gold
PTC Web Desk: A daring daylight robbery at a jewellery shop in Ludhiana triggered panic in the area after two armed men allegedly attacked the shop owner and escaped with valuables, a licensed revolver and a scooter. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed inside the store.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place around noon at a jewellery shop located on ATI Road. The suspects reportedly entered the shop pretending to be customers. After spending a few moments inside, they suddenly turned violent and assaulted the shop owner with sharp-edged weapons before holding him hostage.
Police sources said the accused looted gold, silver, mobile phones and other valuables from the shop. The attackers also allegedly fled with the shopkeeper’s recently purchased licensed pistol and his scooter.
The victim, identified as Ranjit Singh, sustained multiple injuries during the attack and was rushed to CMC Hospital for treatment. His condition is stated to be stable.
The victim’s cousin said the two suspects arrived at the shop on foot with their faces covered. He claimed one of the assailants was carrying a pistol along with a sharp weapon.
“They forcibly took Ranjit Singh to the strong room and assaulted him brutally. He suffered several knife injuries. The accused escaped after looting jewellery, cash, mobile phones and the pistol,” he said.
Police teams reached the spot soon after receiving information and launched an investigation.
Officials are currently examining CCTV footage from the shop and nearby establishments to identify the accused and trace their escape route. Initial findings suggest the robbery may have been planned in advance and that the suspects had conducted prior surveillance of the store.
Efforts are underway to arrest the accused at the earliest, say the police.
