Black Lives Matter: Cop who killed George Floyd sentenced to over 22 years
Prosecutors had requested the punishment of 30 years while Derek Chauvin was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison.

However, Chauvin, with good behavior, could be paroled after serving two-thirds of his sentence, or about 15 years.

Floyd’s family members expressed sorrow about his death and asked for the maximum penalty.
Chauvin has been convicted of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter for pressing his knee against Floyd’s neck.
