Team Canada’s flag bearer Scott Tupper leads Canadian delegation into Estadio Nacional del Perú on Friday to officially kick-off the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.
On Monday Canada will start its campaign for direct entry to Hockey competition, both for men and women, in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Besides Argentina and the USA, Canada is a strong contender for a direct berth in women's competition as the defending champions Argentina is not the team as it used to be. In the absence of some of its key players, Argentina may find it hard to defend the title it last won in Toronto.
In men's section, though Canada has qualified for the Olympic Qualifier by winning the World Series Finals in Kuala Lumpur some time ago, it may also be trying to win the Continental games for a direct entry to Tokyo. Argentina will be the major challenger for Pan Am Games title here in men's section.
Otherwise Canadian contingent here is hopeful of improving upon its home performance.
Canadian athlete Ian Millar in Equestrian has represented the country in (1971, 1975, 1979, 1983, 1987, 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2015). Pan Am Games. Over this time he has won 10 medals in seven Pan Am Games including four gold.
