New Delhi, September 15: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar urged IAS Officers to work diligently to improve service delivery and grievance redressal to citizens while upholding the principle of anonymity. 175 IAS officers from the 2020 batch serving as Assistant Secretaries in various ministries paid a visit to the Vice President, Jagdeep Dhankhar, at Upa-Rashtrapati Nivas, along with Mrs S. Radha Chauhan, Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), and other top DoPT officials. Addressing the officers, the Vice President stated that as civil servants, "you owe your highest allegiance to the Constitution and must always strive to preserve and uphold the rights guaranteed under it. Attracting attention to oneself or taking political positions must be avoided at all costs". Dhankhar further advised the officers to remember that "today's citizen aspires to have a voice in the processes of policy formulation and implementation". He urged the officers to serve as "role models" in the government's "Attitude-Changing Mission." Interacting with the officers, the Vice President noted that the batch has a wide educational background, including engineering, medicine, management, law, and the arts, and advised that they use their educational skills to innovate and create high-quality governance outputs. The Vice President was also pleased that the batch included a considerable number of female IAS officers, noting that "it is an encouraging development that women are now leading in all fields, including administration and governance".
