Coronavirus: South Africa cricket team directed to be self-isolated after returning from India tour

South Africa's 16-member squad has been asked to self-isolate itself for 14 days as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus. The team has been asked to do so following their return from the tour of India. However, the three-match ODI series was postponed amid coronavirus scare. The South African team returned back to the home earlier on Wednesday. The CSA (Cricket South Africa)'s chief medical officer Shuaib Manjra was quoted by sport24.co.za as saying: "We have recommended that all players self-isolate and social distance themselves for a minimum of 14 days because I think it's proper guidance to protect people around them." Manjra added that "In that period, should any of them have any symptoms or any other factors of concern, we will ensure we investigate appropriately and manage it accordingly. The first ODI between South Africa and India was scheduled to be played Dharmshala in Himachal Pradesh, which was called off due to the rain. Later, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to play the second and third ODIs behind the closed doors, however, the whole tour was called off looking at the situation in India.

IPL 2020 Suspended

The novel coronavirus had led to the postponement of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Likewise, the BCCI closed his head office and asked his employees to work from home in an order to avoid the spread of coronavirus.
