New Delhi, July 7: India witnessed a slight uptick in the daily Covid cases as it logged 18,930 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday. India recorded 16,159 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday. With the newly added cases, the active caseload of the country stands at 1,19,457. The daily case positivity rate has increased from Wednesday's 3.56 percent to 4.32 per cent today, while the weekly positivity rate stands at 3.86 per cent. As many as 14,650 Covid patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries from the infection since the beginning of the pandemic to 4,29,21,977. The WHO Director-General said that the world body was following the development. "On Covid-19, globally reported cases have increased nearly 30 percent over the past two weeks. Four out of six of the WHO sub-regions saw cases increase in the last week," Ghebreyesus in a press briefing on Wednesday.
