Covid-19: India logs 20,408 fresh cases in 24 hours
New Delhi, July 30: India reported 20,408 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare said on Saturday.
The newly reported cases pushed India's total tally of Covid-19 cases to 4,40,00,138 while the active cases declined to 1,43,384. The active coronavirus cases comprise 0.33 per cent of the total infections.
According to the data released by the health ministry, the death toll has climbed to 5,26,312 with 44 new fatalities.
Meanwhile, the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.48 per cent, as per the health ministry. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 5.05 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was at 4.92 per cent.
The number of patients who recovered from the Covid infection increased to 4,33,30,442, and the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.20 per cent.
According to the data updated by the ministry on Saturday, 203.94 crore doses of Coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.

India's Covid-19 tally crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, eventually surpassing the one-crore mark on December 19.
The Central Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of Covid-19 vaccination throughout the country. The nationwide Covid-19 vaccination started on January 16, 2021.
The new phase of universalization of the Covid-19 vaccination commenced on June 21, 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through the availability of more vaccines, and advanced visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling better planning by them and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.
As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Government of India has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them with Covid vaccines free of cost.
In the new phase of the universalization of the Covid-19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to States and UTs.
