Covid-19: India logs 44,877 new cases, positivity rate at 3.17%
Coronavirus Update: India reported 44,877 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, with a daily positivity rate of 3.17 percent, according to data released by the Union health ministry on Sunday.
India saw an 11 percent decrease in Covid cases and the daily positivity rate was also marginally lower on Saturday as compared to the day earlier. Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate was reported at 4.46 percent in the last 24 hours, informed the health ministry update.
A total of 684 people succumbed to the illness in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 5,08,665.
The cumulative Covid cases in the country now stand at 42,631,421. Furthermore, the active caseload is reported at 5,37,045, which account for 1.26% of the total cases, as per the update.

In the last 24 hours, 1,17,591 people have been discharged, bringing the total number to 4,15,85,711. The current recovery rate is 97.55 percent.
After a gap of more than 40 days, India's daily Covid-19 tally stayed below 50,000 for the second day in a row.
According to the health ministry's data, 750 million tests have been conducted so far, with 14,15,279 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
On Saturday, a total of 49,16,801 vaccine doses were administered across the country., including 3,32,764 booster jabs and 16,65,792 vaccines in the 15-18 age group.
So far, the nationwide vaccination drive has resulted in the administration of 1.72 billion vaccine doses.
