Covid-19: India logs 5,476 fresh cases in last 24 hours
Coronavirus Update: The number of Covid-19 cases in India continues to decline with 5,476 people testing positive for the infection in a day, according to the Union Health Ministry's data update on Sunday.
With the new infections, India's total Covid tally rose to 4,29,62,953, while the active caseload dipped to 59,442. The death toll in the country climbed to 5,15,036, the data update stated.
Meanwhile, the number of daily Covid-19 cases have remained less than one lakh for 28 consecutive days.
As many as 158 Covid patients succumbed to the illness on the day, according to the health ministry's update.
A day earlier, India had reported 5,921 fresh coronavirus cases, with 289 Covid-related fatalities.

India, meanwhile, witnessed 9,754 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
Among the total Covid cases in the last 24 hours, Kerala accounted for 1,836 new infections. As per the update by Kerala Health Department, the state has 15,825 active cases and 199 patients are hospitalized.
On Saturday, 274 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Delhi. The daily positivity rate in the national capital was recorded at 0.58 percent with zero fatalities in the last 24 hours. Delhi's death toll stands at 26,134.
Mizoram, on the other hand, logged 433 Covid cases. The death toll in the northeastern state rose to 662 as one more person succumbed to the infection.
The Union Health Ministry on Saturday said that more than 179.53 crore (1,79,53,10,650) vaccine doses have been provided to states and UTs so far through the government's free of cost channel and through the direct state procurement category.
Over 15.62 crore (15,62,60,351) balance and unutilised Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs to be administered, it added.
