New Delhi: With the Covid-19 outbreak casting its shadow on the education system leading to several disruptions, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is mulling reducing syllabus for all classes from the 2022-23 academic session. According to the NCERT, the new textbooks are likely to be ready by March-end, before the start of the new academic session 2022-23. The content departments, which include internal and external experts, will be submitting amended syllabus on the basis of which the new textbooks will be designed. Earlier, NCERT director Sridhar Srivastava had asked the heads of the departments to submit the report latest by December 28, 2021, by involving reviews of internal and external experts. The NCERT director also stated that the textbooks with proposed changes needed to be sent to the publication division for reprinting by January 1, 2022.
