DSGMC elections 2021: Voting for Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee polls underway
DSGMC elections 2021: The voting for elections to the prestigious Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) is underway on August 22 (Sunday). As many as 3.42 lakh members of the Sikh community are listed as voters.
A 46-member body will be elected to run the affairs of gurdwaras, schools, colleges, and hospitals. The polling for DSGMC elections 2021 is being conducted through ballot papers at 546 polling stations set up in government schools in different parts of Delhi city.

The number of total eligible voters for the elections has reportedly decreased against the total eligible electorate registered during the last elections held in 2017.

The result of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) elections is scheduled to be announced before August 31.
Earlier the Directorate of Gurdwara elections under the Delhi government was postponed due to the surge in Covid-19 cases.
A bench of Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh while hearing a plea to hold Gurudwara elections as soon as possible, were informed by Advocate Satyakam appearing for Delhi Govt and other respondents that the date has been decided in this regard and the approval of Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Chairman of Delhi Disaster Management Authority is also there.
"Election of DSGMC will be held on August 22 and result would be announced before 31st August. LG has given approval and notification will be out soon with all details", Delhi Government Counsel informed.
DSGMC elections were scheduled to be held on April 25 this year, however, the said elections were postponed on account of the second wave of Covid-19.
