Dust storm hits Rajasthan: More than 20 people killed, over 100 injured
At least 22 people were killed and over 100 injured after a high-intensity dust storm followed by thundershowers hit parts of Rajasthan late on Wednesday night.
The state’s Disaster Management and Relief secretary confirmed.
The high-intensity squall caused havoc in Bharatpur, Alwar and Dholpur districts.
The storm uprooted hundreds of trees and electricity poles in the cities in Rajasthan. Bharatpur was worst-hit - 11 people died there. Four were killed in Alwar, five in Dholpur and one each in Jhunjhunu and Bikaner.
The state government has immediately resorted to disaster relief officials to the affected areas and has asked local administration to stay on alert. Schools have been asked to remain shut in Alwar city today.
