Amid farmers protest against farm laws 2020, an elderly farmer, from Muktsar, protesting at the Tikri border reportedly died on Monday.
As per the report, the farmer has been identified as Jagdish Singh. He was from Lundewala village in Muktsar, Punjab.
Reportedly, the farmers died at the Tikri border following a cardiac arrest as he was at the protesting site for the last couple of days.
So far, over 50 farmers have died during a protest against the farm laws 2020 on the Delhi borders.
Several farmers died in road accidents while many of them died owing to the cold weather conditions.
On December 16, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha had released a loss of 30 farmers who died during the agitation against the three farm laws 2020. Since then, over 20 more farmers died from either accidents or health issues.
The 32 farmer organisations had given a call for ‘Delhi Chalo’ on November 26 and 27. Following a massive response, a large number of farmers from other parts of the country also joined the agitation on the outskirts of Delhi.
The farmers’ have been protesting against the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
