Screenwriters Association Awards 2025: Diljit's 'Amar Singh Chamkila' dominates, wins three awards

PTC News Desk: Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila clinched the top three honours at the 6th Screenwriters Association Awards, held on Saturday in Mumbai to celebrate 2024’s most groundbreaking films, series, and TV shows.


According to a press release, the awards saw 1,500 entries across 15 categories, judged over seven months by a panel of 15 renowned screenwriters. Released on April 12, 2024, the film starred Diljit Dosanjh as Chamkila and Parineeti Chopra as his love interest. Nominated in four categories, it won three.

Imtiaz Ali and his brother Sajid Ali bagged the awards for Best Story and Best Screenplay, while lyricist Irshad Kamil earned the third win for the song Baaja.

The SWA Awards have steadily established themselves as the most credible and prestigious recognition—created by screenwriters, for screenwriters. The 6th edition, attended by some of the biggest names in the industry, celebrated 2024’s most groundbreaking films, series, and TV shows that redefined storytelling. With over 1,500 entries across 15 categories, the awards were evaluated over seven months by a panel of 15 distinguished screenwriters.
