First turbaned Sikh woman to be appointed as SC Judge in Canada
Chandigarh: Palbinder Kaur Shergill is the first Amritdhari Sikh woman to be appointed as the Judge of the British Columbia’s Supreme Court in Canada (New Westminster). It was announced by Minister of Justice and attorney general of Canada, Jody Wilson-Raybould on Friday. Justice EA Arnold-Bailey got retired on May, 31, so Justice Shergill was appointed with immediate effect on Friday. Born at Rurka Kalan in Jalandhar, Shergill immigrated to Canada at a very young age. —PTC News
