Himachal Pradesh: 17 injured as overloaded jeep rolls down hill in Kangra

Himachal Pradesh: As many as 17 people were injured, two of them seriously, when a jeep rolled down a hill near Niharki village in Shahpur sub-division of Kangra district on Tuesday. The incident took place when the driver of the jeep lost control.  The victims include four women and four children. Vimukt Ranjan, Kangra senior superintendent of police, said the victims belonged to Kutharna, Drini and Kanol villages. They were on their way to attend a wedding at Ghera when the overloaded jeep rolled back a steep ascent. It could have been fatal had the vehicle not hit a tree while rolling down. https://www.ptcnews.tv/indian-american-student-strangled-to-death-in-us/ Local residents rushed to the spot and took the injured to Shahpur civil hospital from where two of them were taken to Government Medical College and Hospital at Tanda. Police have registered a case against the driver, Anek Kumar, under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The driver is at large and police have launched a search for him. -PTC News
