J-K: Soldier killed, 3 injured in ‘fratricide’ incident inside Army camp

Surankote (Jammu and Kashmir), July 15: A soldier was killed and at least three were injured in a suspected incident of fratricide inside an Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch on Friday.


According to reports, the incident occurred on Friday morning inside the 156 Territorial Army battalion in Jammu and Kashmir’s Surankote area of Poonch district. The injured have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.


Sources said that the fratricide incident took place at 5:30 am when a jawan fired at three other soldiers in his barrack and later shot himself in the stomach with his own weapon



A senior Army official confirmed the incident, however, further details are awaited.

The top official revealed that the victims are from the Territorial Army. Sources further said that the incident occurred when the soldiers were being deployed for ROP (road opening party) duties.

The soldier who opened fire at his fellow soldiers is also among the injured, according to reports. A detailed probe has been ordered into the case.
