Jalandhar: Amid Heavy rainfall and the major threat the floods, the Deputy Commissioner have ordered the Sub Divisional Magistrates Phillaur, Nakodar and Shahkot to evacuate 81 low lying and flood-prone villages, on Sunday. The news agency, ANI, quoted and said, "Following the release of 1,89,940 cusec of water from the Ropar Headwork, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma has ordered the Sub Divisional Magistrates Phillaur, Nakodar & Shahkot to get 81 low lying and flood-prone villages evacuated". https://twitter.com/ANI/status/1162954511721345027 The India Meteorological Department on Friday issued an alert of moderate to heavy rainfall in the areas of Punjab and Chandigarh for the next 48-72 hours, which is exact, what's happening in the state and the Union Territory. The moderate to heavy rainfall in Punjab and Chandigarh is continuously pouring down since Saturday morning. Although Chandigarh seemed to cool down with the jolt of continuous rainfall, Punjab is still under the threat as the Bhakra river is flowing above the permissible level. Meanwhile, 1,89,940 cusec of water from the Ropar Headwork has been released and hence, the villages are ordered to evacuate to avoid the untoward situation in the mentioned villages. Also, the heavy rainfall has not only affected Chandigarh and Punjab, but the neighbour state Himachal Pradesh is also dealing with the havoc of heavy rainfall. -PTC News-
