Sukhbir, Harsimrat Kaur Badal remember Kalpana Chawala on her 17th death anniversary
Kalpana Chawala death anniversary: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Saturday remembered Kalpana Chawala on her 17th death anniversary. She died in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster the spacecraft was trying to re-enter into the Earth’s atmosphere, in 2003.
Sukhbir Singh Badal took to twitter and wrote: "Remembering the first Indian origin female astronaut Kalpana Chawla on her 17th death anniversary. Her contributions and bravery will continue to inspire girls across the world."
Likewise, Harsimrat Kaur Badal said in a tweet: "The first Indian origin woman to be in the space Kalpana Chawla will be remembered forever. I salute her determination, her perseverance and above all her courage to defy odds."

Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar paid tributes to Kalpana Chawla. Taking it to twitter, he wrote: "Tributes to the brave daughter of Haryana, Kalpana Chawla on her Punyatithi. Her sacrifice in the pursuit of space exploration will be remembered forever. She continues to inspire us all with her dedication, hard work and courage."
