Kashmir target killings: Amit Shah to meet LG Manoj Sinha

New Delhi, June 3: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level meeting on June 3 and will review the situation in Jammu and Kashmir with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and others.   Besides the Lt Gov, senior functionaries of the home ministry and officials from the union territory will also be present in the meeting. This comes a day after two men including a bank manager were shot dead, as part of a spate of eight targeted killings within a week in the region. In a recent terror attack, a bank manager named Vijay Kumar was shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam area on Thursday. He was shot just outside his office. The incident occurred in the Ellaqie Dehati Bank in Kulgam's Areh Mohanpora. The attack was claimed by the Resistance Front, a shadow outfit of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group.   Also Read | 2 injured in shooting at Wisconsin cemetery during funeral A few days ago, a 36-year-old Hindu woman teacher Rajni Bala from Jammu's Samba district, was shot dead by terrorists at a government school in Gopalpora, Kulgam. Over the last two months, terrorists have killed two civilians, including Kashmiri Pandit employee Rahul Bhat and three off-duty policemen. The killings in Kashmir have heightened concerns for Kashmiri Pandits' security. On Thursday, hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits protested in Srinagar and other parts of the Union Territory. Many people have begun to leave the valley, despite a lockdown in the camps where they are staying. "The government has made us hostages. We are not being allowed to leave our homes. We are all scared. There is a security failure in Kashmir. We implore the LG (Lieutenant Governor) to let us leave for Jammu," a member of the community said in an SOS video shared online.   Also Read | Op Bluestar anniversary: Bullet-hit bir mark put up for display at Golden Temple's Akal Takht -PTC News
