Delhi Liquor policy case: Arvind Kejriwal to argue in person in court, seeks judge's recusal from case
PTC News Desk: In a significant development in the alleged Delhi excise policy case, AAP supremeo Arvind Kejriwal and other accused in the case have moved an application before the Delhi High Court seeking the recusal of Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma from the matter.
According to the Aam Aadmi Party’s legal team, Kejriwal is expected to appear in court today and present his arguments in person.
The High Court is scheduled to heal Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) plea challenging Kejriwal's acquittal in the Delhi excise policy case.
In a related case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Kejriwal and Sisodia have been given more than two extra weeks to submit their reply. The High Court has given them a final deadline of April 22, 2026.
The ED’s petition asks the court to remove certain comments made earlier by a special CBI-ED court. The agency said those comments were unnecessary, not related to the case, and were made without hearing its side. It also claimed that these remarks go against fair legal process and have harmed its reputation. Earlier, the special court had cleared Kejriwal, Sisodia, and others due to lack of evidence, but the CBI has challenged that decision in the High Court.
Separately, Kejriwal and Sisodia had asked the Chief Justice to move the case from Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma’s bench to another court.
The High Court has warned that if they do not respond, they may lose certain rights in the case. The next hearing is on April 22.
