MHA allows movement of migrant workers, tourists, students stranded at different places by special trains

Amid coronavirus lockdown, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday allowed the movement of stranded students, migrant workers, tourists, pilgrims, etc. via special trains. In an order signed by the Home Secretary, it has been stated that the movement of migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded at different places is allowed by special trains to be operated by the Ministry of Railways (MOR). The Ministry of Railway said that "Special trains will be run from point to point on the request of both the concerned State Governments as per the standard protocols for sending and receiving such stranded persons. The Railways and State Govts shall appoint senior officials as Nodal Officers." The Railway Ministry added that the passengers will be screened by sending states and only those found asymptomatic will be allowed. The sending State Govts will have to bring passengers in batches to the designated Railway Station in sanitized buses following social distancing norms and other precaution. On arrival at the destination, passengers will be received by the State Government, who would make all the arrangements for their screening, quarantine if necessary.
