The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday announced the list of medal awardees to the police personnel on Independence Day 2020. 215 personnel will get Police Medal for Gallantry, 80 will get President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and 631 will get Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Police personnel from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and the Union Territory (UT) Chandigarh received a few medals while but none of them made it for PGM. Meanwhile, only two Punjab Police personnel are named for PPM, and 13 for meritorious services.
From Haryana Police, one has got PPM, and 11 medals for meritorious while Himachal Pradesh has got one for PPM and 3 for meritorious services. Chandigarh gets the President’s police medal for distinguished services.
As per the list released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) among the states, Union Territories (UTs) and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) Jammu and Kashmir has bagged the maximum of 81 PMG followed by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) with 55 and Uttar Pradesh and Delhi with 23 and 16, respectively.
Uttar Pradesh Police have been awarded a maximum of 73 medals for meritorious services, as CRPF and Border Security Force (BSF) followed with 59 and 46, respectively.
