Air India to resume full international operations by October 1: CEO Campbell Wilson
PTC Web Desk Air India is on track to fully restore its international flight services by October 1, 2025, according to CEO Campbell Wilson. The airline began a phased return of global operations from August 1, following weeks of cancellations and flight disruptions. “This step-by-step restart helps us make sure every safety check is completed properly,” said Wilson in a statement quoted by ANI.
He acknowledged the recent service issues, assuring passengers that Air India is working hard to avoid such problems in the future. The airline had earlier reduced international flights by 15% after a serious incident on June 18, when flight AI171 from London crash-landed in Ahmedabad. In the days that followed, 83 international flights were cancelled, causing delays and travel changes for many customers. Air India offered affected travellers options like free rebooking or full refunds.

Now, Air India is gradually increasing flight frequencies on several routes: Ahmedabad–London: 3 flights per week to Heathrow (replacing earlier 5 flights to Gatwick); Delhi–Zurich: 4 flights increased to 5 weekly from August 1; Delhi–Tokyo Haneda: Daily flights resumed from August 1; Delhi–Seoul Incheon: 5 flights a week starting September 1; Delhi–London Heathrow: Returned to 24 weekly flights as of July 16; Amritsar–Birmingham: Will increase from 2 to 3 flights a week in September and Delhi–Amsterdam: Will run daily flights from August 1.
Other international routes such as Delhi–Paris, Milan, Copenhagen, Vienna, and Birmingham will continue with reduced frequencies for now.
Campbell Wilson said the focus was on safe, reliable service and passenger convenience, and the airline was committed to returning to normal operations as soon as possible.
