PTC Web Desk: Air India has announced the reinstatement of its codeshare partnership with Star Alliance member Air Canada, significantly expanding flight options and improving connectivity between India and Canada. The renewed agreement will officially come into effect on December 2, 2025.

Under the arrangement, Air India passengers will gain expanded access to six additional Canadian destinations beyond the airline’s international gateways in Vancouver and London Heathrow. Air India flight codes will be available on Air Canada-operated routes including: From Vancouver: Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montréal, and Halifax; from London Heathrow: Vancouver and Calgary; in return, Air Canada passengers will be able to book seamless connections to major Indian cities including Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kochi via Delhi, and Delhi and Mumbai via London Heathrow.

Air India CEO & Managing Director Campbell Wilson highlighted the strategic importance of the renewed cooperation, stating: "More than two million people travel between India and Canada each year for family reunions, education, tourism  and business. The reinstatement of our partnership with Air Canada eases journeys for thousands of them every single day. As a proud Star Alliance member, Air India remains committed to offering seamless global travel.”

The partnership allows passengers traveling on itineraries involving both carriers to benefit from: single-ticket bookings; unified baggage allowance; priority services and elite loyalty benefits and access to Air India’s Maharaja Club, Air Canada’s Star Alliance lounge network and mileage earning and redemption across both loyalty programmes.

Both airlines confirmed the codeshare will be progressively rolled out across their respective booking platforms and travel agency networks, subject to regulatory clearance.

Industry experts view the renewed collaboration as a timely move to support rising travel demand between Canada and India driven by students, business travellers and the Indian diaspora.
