Srividya - a college lecturer - died by suicide just six months after her wedding to Rambabu, a village surveyor. In the note, she pointed to the harassment that began merely a month into their marriage.

Andhra woman dies by suicide six months after marriage, leaves note for brother: 'Won't tie rakhi this year'

PTC News Desk:  In a heart-wrenching incident, a 24-year-old woman died by suicide in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district, just six months after her wedding. A suicide note was also recovered from the site addressed to her brother that read, "Be careful, little brother. This time, I may not be able to tie Rakhi on you".


Srividya - a college lecturer - died by suicide just six months after her wedding to Rambabu, a village surveyor. In the note, she pointed to the harassment that began merely a month into their marriage.

The note, addressed to her brother detailed a pattern of brutal domestic abuse by her husband. She wrote that Rambabu would often return home intoxicated and subject her to physical torture and verbal abuse. She described that he would often mock her in front of other women and inflict physical pain by slamming her head against the bed and punching her in the back.

The persistent torture when became unbearable reportedly prompted Srividya to take a drastic step.
