BCCI backtracks on players' travel policy; family members can now accompany for 1 game
PTC News Desk: BCCI has reportedly backtracked on its Champions Trophy travel policy which now allows the families of the players to watch one match in Dubai.
Earlier, in wake of the Border Gavaskar Trophy series loss, BCCI had implemented stringent policies including disallowing families to accompany the Indian cricket players in Dubai. However according to the latest report, BCCI has permitted all players' families to go to Dubai to watch only one match.
According to the policy statement: "Players absent from India for more than 45 days during overseas tours can be joined by their partners and children (under 18) for one visit per series (format wise) of up to a two-week period."
The Indian team will kick off their Champions Trophy campaign on Thursday at the Dubai International Stadium against Bangladesh. They will then face defending champions Pakistan on Sunday and New Zealand the following week. With the tournament spanning three weeks, even if India reaches the final, the BCCI has decided not to allow families to join the players on the tour.
