CAA backlash: Delhi Police ramp up security in sensitive areas

CAA backlash: Delhi Police ramped up security arrangements in northeast Delhi, Shaheen Bagh, Jamia, and other sensitive areas of the national capital following the Central Government's notification of rules for the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Police officers and paramilitary forces have been deployed in particular areas. The police will also hold flag marches in northeast and southeast Delhi.

After the Centre's notification on CAA, security was increased in other parts of the country, including Assam. Officials have stated that all police stations are on high alert, and barricades have been erected along key roads throughout the state. Patrolling has been increased in sensitive areas, as opposition parties plan to protest the rules' notification.

The All Assam Students Union and 30 indigenous organisations have burned copies of the CAA across the state, including Guwahati, Barpeta, Lakhimpur, Nalbari, Dibrugarh, and Tezpur. The 16-party United Opposition Forum in Assam (UOFA) also declared a statewide hartal on Tuesday.
