Covid update: India reports 10,753 new Covid cases in last 24 hours

New Delhi, April 15: According to the Union Health Ministry, India reported 10,753 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. 

The toll has climbed to 5,31,091 with 27 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.

India has been witnessing a continuous rise in daily Covid-19 cases as the country's active caseload has gone up. Meanwhile, six deaths were also recorded from Delhi, four from Maharashtra, three from Rajasthan and one each in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

The active cases now comprise 0.12 per cent of the total infections while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.69, according to the ministry website.

A total of 4,42,23,211 persons have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far since the pandemic began, while 5,31,091 people succumbed to the virus, the data shows. 

According to the ministry's website, 220.66 crore vaccine doses have been administered under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive so far.

India also witness slight decline in daily Covid-19 cases

 However, there is a slight decline in daily Covid-19 cases. India has logged 10,753 new infections in the past 24 hours, while the number crossed 11,000 mark on Friday. 

Meanwhile, Indian Medical Association (IMA) also advised citizens not to panic amid rising Covid cases, saying that they should maintain proper hygiene. "Don't panic. We have controlled it before, We will do it now also with your support. Covid cases are rising, but don't panic. Maintain hygiene," the statement said.

"People in high-risk groups -- pregnant ladies, those over the age of 60, those with chronic illnesses, and those with underlying health conditions, immunocompromised -- face an increased risk of severe illness and death from Covid-19. We need to protect them," read the statement.
