Delhi BMW crash: Medical report confirms accused Gaganpreet not under alcohol influence, lodged in Tihar jail
PTC Web Desk: A medical examination has confirmed that Gaganpreet Makkad, the prime accused in the recent BMW crash in Delhi, was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The development comes amid the ongoing probe into the accident, which claimed the life of a man and left his wife critically injured.
According to police, the blood sample of Gaganpreet tested negative for alcohol. She is currently lodged in Tihar Jail.
An FIR has been registered at the Delhi Cantonment police station under Sections 281 (rash driving endangering life), 125B (negligent act endangering human life), 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), and 238 (concealment of evidence or providing false information to shield the offender) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
On Monday, the Patiala House Court remanded her to two days’ judicial custody. She was produced before Duty Magistrate Akanksha Singh at her residence by the Delhi Police. The court has also issued a notice on her bail plea, which is scheduled to be heard on September 17, the same date when she will be produced again.
The tragic crash took place on Sunday when the BMW, allegedly driven by Gaganpreet Makkad, rammed into a motorcycle, causing it to collide with a bus. Navjot Singh, an employee of the Ministry of Finance and a resident of Hari Nagar, died in the accident, while his wife suffered multiple fractures and head injuries.
