Delhi Police uncover major international illegal arms network linked to Pakistan’s ISI
PTC Web Desk: In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police have dismantled an international arms smuggling network allegedly connected to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The syndicate was reportedly trafficking high-grade pistols manufactured in China and Turkey into India through Pakistan, officials confirmed.
During the operation, the police arrested four key members involved in the illicit supply chain. The authorities also seized 10 imported pistols and 92 live cartridges as evidence. According to investigators, these weapons were being distributed to criminal networks operating across Delhi and neighbouring states.
Police teams are now focused on tracing the total number of weapons earlier delivered inside India and identifying the receivers, including organised crime groups and individual buyers.
Security agencies have begun analysing mobile phone records, bank transactions and social media activity linked to the suspects to locate other operatives associated with the network.
This development comes amidst heightened security alerts in the national capital following the deadly explosion on November 10 near the Red Fort. A Hyundai i20 driven by a suicide attacker, identified as Umar un Nabi, detonated, killing 15 persons and injuring several others.
Just hours before the blast, the Jammu and Kashmir Police announced a breakthrough in their own investigation, revealing the bust of a large interstate and cross-border “white-collar” terror module. The network reportedly had links to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, an Al-Qaeda affiliate.
Officials also recovered approximately 2,900 kg of explosive material, including ammonium nitrate, believed to have been used in the Delhi attack. Security has since been tightened across Delhi and other vulnerable regions as the investigation continues.
