Denied a bank account, acid attack survivor turns to Shah Rukh Khan for help

PTC News Desk: After being denied a new bank account because she 'can't blink,' an acid attack survivor sought the help of superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his NGO.

She tweeted about her ordeal on Wednesday, calling it 'unjust' that she couldn't register an account because a KYC machine couldn't scan her complete biometric details due to her inability to blink.

The actor is yet to respond to her request.

Taking to Twitter Pragya Prasun said: "It's my right too to be able to open a bank account. Being an acid attack survivor should not prohibit me from living a life with dignity."

She tagged Shah Rukh and his Meer Foundation in the tweet. Meer Foundation is a philanthropic foundation named after Shah Rukh’s late father Meer Taj Mohammed Khan and works towards rehabilitating acid attack survivors and also funds corrective surgeries.

"It's unjust that I was denied a bank account just because I can’t blink for the KYC process. Requesting @iamsrk @MeerFoundation to help me make this world inclusive for all acid attack survivors," she added.

She also urged ICICI Bank CEO Sandeep Bakhshi to reconsider this policy and propose easy and swift alternative methods for individuals who cannot blink to open a bank account.

"I also implore them to restore the physical application process to accommodate individuals with disabilities, as online-only options may not always be suitable for everyone," she said.
