Doda terror attacks: Police have released sketches of four terrorists involved in two attacks in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, announcing a reward of Rs 20 lakh for information leading to their arrest.

Terrorists opened fire on a joint checkpoint of the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and police on Tuesday in Chattergalla, Bhaderwah. On Wednesday, a search party in the Gandoh area of the district was attacked, injuring seven security personnel, including a police officer.

“Jammu and Kashmir Police have released sketches of four terrorists who are believed to be in the upper reaches of Bhaderwah, Thathri, Gandoh and carrying out terror-related activities,” police spokesperson stated.

The police have announced a Rs 5 lakh cash reward for information on each terrorist.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police also urged the public to provide information about the presence and movements of these terrorists.

After two terrorist groups attacked a checkpost in the upper reaches of Doda and opened fire on security forces hours later, Jammu saw two of the three gunbattles in 26 hours that rocked the city and sent shockwaves through the restive Union territory, injuring five soldiers and two police officers in separate encounters on Wednesday.

In the first incident, which occurred on Wednesday at 1.45 a.m. in Doda's Chattargala region on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot way, a group of three to four terrorists opened fire on a joint checkpost of the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and the Jammu & Kashmir Police. Following an hours-long gunfight, five army soldiers and one special police officer were injured.

A second group of terrorists attacked a police team in the Kota Top area, 150 kilometres away from Chhattargala, according to officers, injuring head constable Fareed Ahmed.

Another gunfight broke out in Kathua. It started late on Tuesday night and lasted till Wednesday morning, killing one jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force, injuring six security officers and one civilian, and neutralising two terrorists.
