DRDO guest house manager arrested on espionage charges, leaked sensitive information to Pak's ISI
PTC News Desk: Rajasthan CID Intelligence on Tuesday arrested s suspecte Pakistani spy from Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.
The accused has been identified as Mahendra Prasad, 32, who was employed as the manager of the DRDO Guest House at the Chandan Field Firing Range. He was allegedly in constant touch with a Pakistani intelligence handler and was leaking sensitive information about India's defence activities.
In view of the Independence Day, security was already befed up and heightened surveillance has been in place to monitor anti-national and subversive activities. During this monitoring, credible inputs surfaced about Mahendra Prasad, a contractual worker at the DRDO Guest House. He was suspected to be engaged in espionage activities.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Prasad was in contact with a Pakistani intelligence agency through social media. He was allegedly supplying his handler with details about the movement of DRDO scientists and Indian Army officers who visit the Chandan Field Firing Range for missile and weapon trials.
The DRDO facility in Jaisalmer is a critical testing site for strategic defence equipment.
The joint interrogation conducted by security agencies confirmed that he supplied classified information related to DRDO operations and activities of Indian Army to his Pakistani handler.
