Panchkula, October 23: In preparation for the upcoming Dussehra celebrations 2023, India's tallest Ravana effigy has been unveiled at Shalimar Ground in Panchkula, Haryana. Standing at an impressive height of 171 feet, this monumental effigy has been made at a cost of Rs 18 lakh. It was indeed a labour-intensive project that took approximately three months to complete with the efforts of around 25-30 dedicated labourers.

Tejinder Singh Chouhan, the master craftsman behind this colossal creation, expressed his pride in being entrusted with the task of crafting the India's tallest Ravana in Panchkula. He noted his extensive experience, having crafted Ravana idols since 1987, and highlighted his record-breaking achievements, including recognition in the Limca Book of Records and the Guinness World Records.

Chouhan elaborated on the construction process, revealing that the Ravana effigy was meticulously made from velvet cloth and equipped with 12 electric points controlled by remote. These electrical points, discreetly installed inside the effigy, will facilitate its dramatic burning, from the crown down to the stomach, at the press of a button.

This year, Vijaya Dashmi or Dussehra is slated to be celebrated on October 24, symbolising the victory of good over evil and commemorating Lord Rama's triumph over Ravana. As the Navratri festival reaches its ninth day, devout celebrants from all corners of the nation are immersed in the festivities.
