Former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur to be awarded Bharat Ratna posthumously
PTC News Desk: Former Bihar Chief Minister and prominent socialist leader Karpoori Thakur will be awarded Bharat Ratna posthumously. The announcement was made by Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
The announcement that Thakur will receive India's highest civilian award comes just a day before his 100th birth anniversary.
Thakur was born in Samastipur, Bihar, and served as chief minister for two terms. He was well-known for fighting for the rights of the underprivileged.
